Our Mission

Centered in Jesus Christ, we are an open, welcoming family of faith.

Our Vision

As faithful followers of Jesus we offer an inclusive sanctuary for people who wish to deepen their faith through inquiry, study, worship, and service. We are committed to treating all equally and serving the community through loving action.

What We Believe

The good news of the Gospel is that the triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — creates, redeems, sustains, rules, and transforms all things and all people. The Gospel of Jesus Christ announces the nearness of God’s kingdom, bringing good news to all who are impoverished, sight to all who are blind, freedom to all who are oppressed, and proclaiming the Lord’s favor upon all creation.

The mission of God in Christ gives shape and substance to the life and work of the Church. The Church is the Body of Christ; the Church is to be a community of faith, entrusting itself to God alone; the Church is to be a community of hope, rejoicing in the sure and certain knowledge that, in Christ, God is making a new creation; the Church is to be a community of love, where grace and forgiveness are embodied in all walks of life and dividing walls of hostility are broken down; and the Church is bear witness to the transforming grace of Christ Jesus. (The Book of Order, F-1.03)

The ‘Great Ends of the Church’ are: the proclamation of the gospel; the shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God; the maintenance of divine worship; the preservation of the truth; the promotion of social righteousness; and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world. (The Book of Order, F-1.0304)

As a Christian Church, we celebrate two sacraments – The Sacrament of Baptism and The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Like other Protestant denominations we believe that one baptism is sufficient and that the table is an open and welcoming place prepared by God for all of God’s beloved children.

As a Faithful Community We:

Believe that the teachings of Jesus provide but one of many ways to experience “God,” and that we can draw from diverse sources of wisdom in our spiritual journey; (TGC – As a Christian church we follow the path of Christ and seek to live faithfully to that path of discipleship) Seek and create community that is inclusive of ALL people; Know that the way we behave towards one another is the fullest expression of what we believe, therefore we vow to walk as Jesus might have walked in this world with compassion, inclusion, and grace; Find grace in the search for understanding and believe there is more value in questioning with an open mind and open heart, than in absolutes or dogma; Work toward peace and justice among all people and all life; Protect and restore the integrity of our Creation; Commit to a path of life-long learning, compassion, and selfless love on this journey toward a personally authentic and meaningful faith.
