Dr. Mike Johnston - Stated Supply Pastor
Dr. Mike Johnston recently moved to Fort Worth, TX, to join his wife who is on faculty at TCU. Mike has been serving Baylor All Saints as their Supportive and Palliative Care Chaplain since shortly after coming to Texas. Previously he served as the Director of the Department of Spiritual Care at AnMed Health since January 2013. Prior to that he served as Director of Spiritual Care at CaroMont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, NC as well as serving as Director of Pastoral Care for two hospitals in Richmond, VA. During his time in Gastonia, Mike helped develop the Palliative Care program working primarily in critical care; a hospital wide Bereavement Program; participating with LifeShare of the Carolinas in making CRH a National Award winning organ donor hospital and was instrumental in designing a hospital memorial for organ/tissue donors; the development of a Faith Community Nursing program. In addition, Mike has served as Stated Supply Pastor for two congregations in NC, one congregation in SC before accepting the call to serve in a similar role here at Trinity Presbyterian in Mansfield.
Mike is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and attended Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA, graduating with dual Master’s degrees of Divinity and Christian Education. He did his doctoral work at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA with his dissertation being on the Integration of Spirituality into Healthcare. His clinical training in chaplaincy occurred at the MCV Hospitals in Richmond, VA.
Mike is married to Dr. Valerie Johnston, a faculty member at Texas Christian University teaching Healthcare Administration as part of their MBA program. They have four children, Erin, Ben, Cooper and Blake as well as two grandchildren, Quinn and Asa. Mike enjoys golf, reading for fun, yard work, his kids, travel, the beach and Tar Heel Sports.
Manuel Munoz - Music Accompaniest
Manuel is a passionate pianist and music educator with a lifelong dedication to his craft. His journey began in Popayan, Columbia, where he initiated his musical exploration at the age of 4.
His diverse academic background includes a BBM in Marketing and International Business, and MBA in Finance, several studies in Computer Science and a degree in Piano Performance with Honors Cum Laude.
Under the tutelage of notable mentors like Russian pedagogue Olga Tchijova and Czech Professor Vaclav Pacl, Manuel honed his skills for more that seven years. Additionally, he had the privilege of studying a special course with the distinguished Cuban pianist Jorge Luis Prats, further enriching his musical education.
Throughout his musical journey, Manuel consistently received a warm and enthusiastic reception from the audiences, performing all over Colombia and international festivals throughout his student life. He has also performed with professional Bands and Symphony Orchestras in Colombia, as well as winning the Conservatory Concerto Competition multiple times.
Mans was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy at Texas Christian University, under the esteemed guidance of Professors Harold Martina and Dr. Ann Gipson. During his Master studies he has attended master classes with outstanding musicians such as Antonio Pompabaldi, shaping further his performance abilities and also attended seminars with Marvin Blickenstaff to enhance his pedagogy skills. He also has the honor of sharing his knowledge by teaching several Piano Group Classes, academies, schools and churches in the Dallas-Worth Metroplex
While teaching he focuses all his efforts in nurturing the artistic persona of his students, helping them get the right tools to enjoy music through disipline, mindset and knowledge in a journey to inspire future generations of musicians through the transformative power of music.
Jennifer Nelson - Administrative Assistant
Jennifer is a dedicated professional with a passion for building lasting relationships. She has a background in administration, human resources and medical billing. Jennifer has worked in a wide variety of industries and multiple specialties.
Jennifer finds inspiration in her faith, nature, music, books and her family. In her spare time, she enjoys reading Agatha Christie novels and spending time with her nine nieces and nephews.
